Sam I am all eyes on this topic myself. I have a 97 F250 PSd and have been studying up on tires for a couple of months now. I would like a aggressive AT tire. I'm gonna buy some in Nov as soon as I figure out which one ???

Damn thats not very long for a set of tires. Id hate to have to be replacing 15" tires every 12 months.

I have a buddy who has the Nitto TerraGrapplers with about 65000 miles on them. He has had them about a year now, needless to say it is practicaly all highway miles. From what I understand Nitto is the sister company to Toyo which makes some awesome tires, also. For an all terrain I would say they are pretty darn aggressive. I just put the 285/70/17 which are a 10 ply and got them for $840 mounted/balanced.

When I had my gmc sierra... I ran the nitto terra grapplers in a 295/70/17 which is about a 33.7 tall and 3/4" wider than the 285/70/17, but cost is pretty much the same and could possibly be a few dollars cheaper but dont understand how. I ran them in sand, mud, rocks, water & on the street. Perfect all-terrain tire for the toughest sportsman and looks great doing it. I was able to get 48,000 some odd miles out of them before I sold the truck & never had any funny wearing or chopping problems. I would say they had a good 10,000 miles left to go before they would need a new set. Great tire for the best price! Hope this helps your decision!

My dad just put a set of Nittos TG on his '06 250 FX4 with 20" king ranch rims and he's loving them. I have a set on my '03 150 FX4 and really like them. I really like their wet traction during rain and they are quiet given they are rotated often. I rotate every 2 oil changes.

Back when I had my PSD I ran the Yokohoma Geolander AT+II and got great mileage out of them, even having them on a 350 crew cab long bed 4x4 srw, yea truck was 24' long bumper to bumper. They don't make these anymore starting this year and I've have buddies search damn near every tire warehouse in the country and none to be found.

I have the firestone destination at's on my Titan and they seem to be pretty good and cheep too. A buddy of mine has had them for a while and they have plenty tread left. I bought mine from tire rack and they had great reviews, better than some of the high end name tires.

Post Re: Truck Tires
check and see if those coopers are a load E range tire, it not your gonna go through tires like crazy. there are different ranges with tires and your prob running a D range tire which is good for a half ton truck but not for your 3/4 ton. the BFG AT is the best milleage tire if you get the correct range and should last you 40-50 K miles, depending on how often you rotate. if you want to spend a lil extra money, the Pro Comp AT should last a lil longer than the BFG with the load E tires. hopes this help and if you have any more questions, just ask :D

I just bought some Michelin LTX A/T 2. Supposed to be a 60,000 mile tire. I had the BFG A/T on my truck but they did not last.

My tow vic. is a retired Secret Service armored 2500 Suburban 8000#+ and a tire eating S.O.B. Have Firestone Destinations on it now 265/16 Ds M/T. They have little over 24000 miles on them and look like they might go another 20000. They are loud, but have never been stuck with them. They have pretty good shoulder cleats and clean out good in the mud.
