Post subject:  Any house painters here? I need advice

My wife is hounding me to repaint the house. I know how to prep and paint, but hate it with a passion.

My question is prepping where my lab rubs along one of the walls. What do I need to do so the sheen from the dogs body oils doesn't "bleed" through the new paint?

I have a flat painted finish over a light knockdown now. I am going go with a satin finish this time so it is easier to clean.

I was leaning towards a coat of kilz after a good wipe down with trisodium phosphate. Just not sure if that is the correct approach. Figured there would be several with more painting knowledge than myself.

Clorox, or bleach water combo will clean. The great thing about using a dedicated primer, especially kills, Is that you will use less base coat to get coverage. This especially true with new dry wall, but also it's great for when going from dark to light colors, so they don't bleed through

Not too late at all. She still has not chosen a color.

I thought about Zinsser, but since it was never mentioned I figured it must not be that great.
