Re: Ice Motors?
I've been looking for an ice scratcher to buy for a few years now! I'm now getting parts togther to make one. I'm sure the first 1 or five will be a disaster, but it beats sitting around watching reruns of Walker Texas ranger... I have the motor, clutch, steel disc, shafts and bearings- It's time to get busy, lakes are getting skim ice around here.

Re: Ice Motors?
I know a few guys that still run them. Not sure if that guy down in Prairie du chien still makes them or nor. Fun little toy to have, been thinking of getting one for early ice trapping.

Re: Ice Motors?
Seems like the only time they'd be good is for the in-between times when ice is too thin for a ATV/snowmobile and too thick to break with a boat.
The problem is, what happens when you break thru the ice at that in between time? Yes, the boat will keep you afloat and dry, but how the hell do you get back up on top of the ice?? The runners would hang on the edge of the ice and the scratcher wouldn't do crap to propel you in the water/broken ice chunks behind you...
