Post Moving to DFW area
So just got back from the company Christmas party and was approached by CEO and VP and asked to move to DFW or Houston to handle all operations in the area for us by 2018. That being said wanted to ask around and see what the opinions are for the local duck hunting conditions. Should I sell my rig and try to get a lease in OK or AR or LA? Try to hunt public land? Any help would be appreciated.

There is quite a few fellows from that area that run mud boats. There is shallow water just north of that area and a ton o fun if you drive east a little... so dont sell it yet

There is some great hunting if you are willing to drive a little and scout a bunch. I live right on a lake that is a nut kick most days but with a little effort can be awesome.

There's several public lakes and WMAs that with a little scouting can be very productive, especially if you're willing to drive 1-2hrs outside of dfw. If you're able to dig up this thread when you move hollar and I'll be happy to give you a few leads or meet up for a hunt

You'll be making the drive to get on the beaten path not off it.

Post Re: Moving to DFW area
So a guy has just made me an offer I can't refuse on my current rig so it looks like it will be gone at the end of this season. That being said with the new role comes a new paycheck and I think I'm going to have a boat built. Any suggestions on size, thickness? I always here about those E. TX stump fields but do they justify the .190 thickness? Also is there any flooded timber to work in like there is down south here? I know this has been hammered to death a million times but couldn't find anything specific to the NETX suggestions on the environment you guys run in up there.

Thick bottom is always a good idea unless you want a light boat, mine is 1/8 and no problems. But some of our customers boats are f***ed up from playing hard.. sound like you need to have a new rig by the caddo run in June :D
