Did anyone hunt american lake last saturday
I’m so tired of idiots I hunted American lake, against my better judgment, last Saturday and about 7 they had 2 skiffs come in the lake I watched them for a while and one of them started to set up in an old willow blind about 100 yards from me It only took them about an hour to get set up I kept telling the guy with me that I could not believe they were going to hunt that blind with out brushing it Needless to say after they got in the blind I really got to find out what kind of idiots we were dealing with They started calling with out any birds around. Now this goes on for about an hour non stop I made several attempts to yell at them and let them know what I thought about their calling abilities, but needless to say this did not work. I had two sets of birds fly over the woods behind me. I gave them one quick call and they circled to the back of me getting ready to come in Well the fools set up     in front of me see the birds and start calling causing them to flare off. Now I really pissed. Now it is time to pick up the decoys and take care of business. I get picked up and make the round and find out why it took these guys so long to set up. They must have had 10 dozen decoys and 3 mojos out which made the perfect target. Yep right through the middle of them. The best thing was the 3 decoys that the old PD caught. I never knew it but a decoy will fly as high as the rooster tail does. Pretty cool. If anyone was on American lake that day I would like to know if the calling stopped after I left. If anyone knows who these fools are tell then I’m going to be back this weekend and this time I will not spare the mojo decoy. They do set all 3 up in a line. Oh I will also be sure to bring the 10 gauge and it will reach out and tough the birds. By the way I’m more than willing to meet them in academy parking lot if they would like me to pay for the damaged decoys.

Re: Did anyone hunt american lake last saturday
I really don't think I can handle the public land ducks anymore, because of your story there and things I have encountered just as bad and even worse. I just can't handle people setting up too close. When you factor in the getting up early and massive travel time by vehicle and boat it just boils my blood to have someone set up at sunrise like you just described.
I have started to make some choices and its easier to go make a wood duck hunt in the flooded timber closer to the house and pick up 2-3. Its much more enoyable and satisfying.
The rest of the time I just deer hunt. If I need the taste of duck for gumbo or the grill I'll just start making pool-deau runs like BAsin.
