Post Shotgun suggestions
Well its almost tax return time and decided its time to retire the old stoger and get a good gun that's going to last hopefully for a very long time. Going to be doing alot of shooting over the summer and hopefully a whole lot of shooting next season if everything goes as planned.

I cant really find any good "reviews" on them from your every day hunter, all im getting are those magazine editors "testing" reviews type stuff. I know quite a few of yall on here shoot a lot and have shot alot of different guns so looking for opinions on why one gun was chosen over the other or why you wouldn't buy this one again etc.

Been looking at:
Beretta a400 xtreme
Browning a5
Benelli sbe2
Beretta extrema

Also look into other suggestions but thats what ive narrowed it down to, and in that order of preference so far. Liable to change

I will most likely be in the market for a shotgun this offseason. Considering the Remington Versa Max and the Remington V3 at the moment. I've hunted with pumps my whole life and have an 870 SuperMag in my lap as we speak and still love them but an auto would be a nice change when those tealbirds are buzzing you like mosquitoes

Post Re: Shotgun suggestions
I have shot the a400 and a SBE2, both were brief and not enough time to get a good feel for it though.
However i have shouldered all the above mentioned guns, only one i can say I didn't like was the beretta a350. But that was with the stock extention in so that could have been the issue i was having.

The versamax to me seemed much heavier and bulkier than the rest of them, only shoulderd never shot so that all i got on it.

The a400 i shot from what I remember was awesome, that being said it was only in my hands about 10 minutes and only fired 3 shots from it.

The only thing i can say I didn't like about the SBE2 was the small foregrip. To me it just seemed small but thats all i got on it.

I have handled an A5 alot but never shot one, only issue i would see with it is getting used to the hump back. Other than thst it felt good.

I have friends that all have these guns, guess ill just have to try and convince them all to trade me for a bit while hunting lol. I still have an old stoger m2000 i been shooting for about 5 years now and its still kicking it, only issues are the choke is stuck and the cap to disassemble it rusted up and stuck. I wouldn't even be considering getting a new gun but me and the girlfriend are going to be doing alot of skeet shooting over the summer and thats her favorite gun to shoot....so thats my excuse in buying myself a new one  . In my mind i think ive narrowed it down to the A400 or the SBE2 but i friend i hunt with often has the A5 im gonna try and talk him into swapping me for a few shots. We shall see how that goes and go from there.

I have a Extrema II, a A5 and a SBE II. I don't care for the SBEII, I highly recommend the Beretta or Browning.

A 400 all the way. One of the smoothest guns I have ever shot. Just follow break in instructions and you will not have any problems.

I have an SBE II that I put lots of shells thru that I bring as a backup to my A400 I am on my third season with. Have loaned out the SBE II to other guys at the camp but have not had a failure with the Beretta yet. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. For hot shells I like the A400 much better. It is heavier. Shoulder all the guns you are interested in or even better get buddies to let you shoot them.

I have a Versa Max, SBE, and A400 unico with the kick off system. I like the Versa Max the best and it's the one I shoot all the time. The A400 is a great gun also but the Versa Max fits me the best and has the least recoil. Don't really care much for the SBE. My advice would be to try and shoot as many of them as you can and see which fits you the best and get that one. I know they are adjustable but there is usually one that will just seem to fit better and shoot better and that makes a big difference. All of them are good guns just get one that fits you.

I've got a super Vinci and a SBE 2. Both great guns, never had any misfires with them. Just put the sheels in and pull the trigger and the Benelli with cycle them. I like the super Vinci more just because the way it feels and how easy to is to take apart. I only hunt with it in saltwater and rarely ever clean it, maybe every 8 hunts, and it just keeps on firing. I throw it around the boat, use it as a paddle, and it just keeps going. Just love how realible they are. I find the Benelli system is a little better than the gas system in the brettta, recently we were hunting Venice and got caught in the rain and for some reason the Brettta wouldn't cycle the sheels after the rain, and my Benelli never missed a beat, but I would shoulder all these guns and see what fits you best, that's what I did and I've never looked back

Came across another gun while doing my indepth research, The Benelli Super Sport. Its basically a SBE2 with a few extra bonus features. Just comes with a factory ported 30" barrel and a full set of extended choke tubes plus i think it looks pretty good... Keep in mind this is going to double as a skeet and hunting gun, and i dont really care weather its camo or not so thats not a factor. Im going to go check it out along side an A400 when i get back in town.

I have a super sport that I use for clays. Probably the smoothest gun I've ever shot. I wouldn't subject it to the rigors of a duck blind though. Although I shoot primarily Benellis, I think that the A400 may be the best all around gun. That'll be the next one I buy.

Post Re: Shotgun suggestions
I'll add my 2 cents. My biggest concern in a shotgun, or any gun really, is reliability. I want it to go boom every time I pull the trigger. I want it to shoot in rain, sleet, snow, etc. I want it to shoot target loads and turkey loads. I want it to shoot clean and I want it to shoot after I've shot a case of shells in Canada without taking it apart. For me personally, that means going with an inertia gun over a gas gun. I've had a lot of luck with Benelli. I've got a H&K Super Black Eagle, a 12 gauge M2, and just got a 20 gauge M2 in October from my fiance as a 30th birthday gift. I also have a Nova pump gun but that doesn't matter since we're just discussing semi-autos. All of them except the 20 gauge have had multiple cases through them and have been extremely reliable. And they get better after getting broken in. That's my opinion. Take it for what it's worth. Let us know what you end up with!

It'll be either a SBE2, A400, or an A5....when i get back in town i will definitely try out all 3 before i buy. Also i might be able to get one through work cheeper so that might be a factor as well...

I have to agree with DUCK-KILLA on the super vinci. The safety in front of the trigger took a while to get used to but, its my go to. I bought a M1 super 90 and a SBE1 when they first came out, the only thing I had to do with them is replace the spring in the stock. I've had them for over 20 years. You can't go wrong with a Benelli, between my boy's and I we have 8 of them. I also have a camo Cynergy, I would look at it too if your shooting clays, I've seen some good prices on them recently.

My 2 favorite shotguns I own is my Beretta Xtrema 2 and Browning Maxis. I personally didn't care for the A400 and traded it for a browning Maxis and cant think of anything negative about the gun (Maxis).

I agree with the kiwi on the feel of the beretta autos. Kinda reminds me of a rough cut 2x4 in hand. Plus I had a bunch of problems with an extrema when they first came out. Took a beating on it trading it for a Benelli, best beating I ever took.

Is there any trick to the forend cap? It just goes down into a half lock. Is that right? I see the half lock inside of the tube where the piece goes in and twist into place but i also see threads on the outside of the tube as well like it can thread on

Oh okay. I put it together and shot it once in the yard yesterday just for the hell of it and it poped off. It didn't seem to tight when it went on but it went down and twisted in so I didn't think anything about it. When i put it back on it went on what seemed alittle tighter but not much.
