Post Cost of a concrete pump truck? **update page 2**
Were finally about to get into our new house and I'm getting my shit ready for my 35'x50' shop build. Given the amount of rain that we have been having, I really don't want to tear my new yard up with those damn trucks. So here is my layout:

Shop area.JPG

The shop area is approx 150' from the road. They could come around the side of the house, but like I mentioned, its soft and don't want to even go that route. Most along my way come in from an old access road (when dry) and pour from the back of the property, but as you can see, the pond has me blocked. Any of you ever use a pump truck? How far will they pump and how much damage is it going to do to my wallet?

I have the same dilemma. Seems like I paid $1800 when I built my house 10 years ago.

Be cheaper to get a line pump. But a way bigger pain in the ass moving all that hose.
Pumping 180 feet is a big ass pump that's 60 meters and the bigger they are the more they cost.

They can't just back down your driveway and let the crew pull it the 50'? It'll suck for them, but that's why they get paid. Otherwise, it may just be cheaper to just let them rut up your yard and do a little dirt work after the fact.

I wouldn't let them on the driveway. I would have the concrete contractor price the line pump and also price dirt work and sod to repair the yard.

Boom pump, into line pump, or 2 line pumps. It would only cost about $800 here in utah for either method.

Well, my company does concrete and we actually own 8 pumps as well. A 55 meter pump (biggest we have) will reach 160' so you ain't even to the back of the building yet. Then it's gotta set up outriggers, which will block the whole street. May as well just figure on a line pump, tell them to bring 250' of 3" hose. Then you gotta get line mix with smaller aggregate and more cement in the mix, which costs about 6$ a yard more. The pump bill should run you about $800 (at least here in Ga) depending on how fast the pump it out. $120 an hour, $2 per yard, and an hour travel and set up.

JB, the line pump pump may be an option. The main reason I cant get trucks in the back around the side is I have some septic lines running there. But I just pulled up a video of the line pump and that shit may work. Moving in the country out of my current subdivision, so road issues aren't an issue. One thing, how do they clean that much line? Are they just going to clean it in my yard in the back?

No they should pump out everything they need and them reverse the pump and suck it back into the hopper. Biggest thing is just making sure the mixer driver doesn't fill up the hopper when they get close to the end. They will need a place to wash out the hopper though. You'll probably have 2 or 3 wheelbarrows of waste you'll have to rake down or get rid of. If it's in a subdivision, we use wash out bags then after it sets up the landscaper or somebody with a bobcat will Throw it in a dumpster. Make sure they put some wood or something under the clamps that sit on your drive. All that force, they'll move around and scar your concrete.

Your yard is going to get wrecked anyways putting the building up. Let it dry out and then move ahead when you get the break in the weather. You've waited this long, what's another couple weeks?

Well, 80,000 lbs running over septic tanks or lines several times is gonna cause some problems, either immediately when the truck sinks full of concrete you can't get off the truck, or a week later when your lines aren't perking or your tank got crushed. And it's gonna ruin a 4" driveway poured with 3000 psi concrete. Go ahead and budget for the pump, doesn't matter if you wait until the drought in summer, or budget for a driveway replace and a septic system rework.

Rent a couple of these http://www.multiquip.com/multiquip/WBH16.htm
You have a concrete contractor doing this, right? See if you have a local buggy service around, thats the way to go, they bring it, they drive it, they wash it out, and they take it away, for a little more than the cost of the rental, just a thought.

You are probably going to tear up the yard anyway. You need to level out the pad someway and place a base of some type (gravel)

The builder of the shop has a guy that he deals with to pour all his slabs. Whatever he needs or whatever, that's on him. As far as a rock foundation, don't know about that.

2 buggies will have that down in a few hours, if getting the concrete from the street to the pour is an issue, you need to talk with another CONCRETE contractor!!!! Buggies are cleaner and more cost effective. Don't try this with inexperienced people.

Drove concrete trucks for a while back in the day. When we would have to go on someone's driveway we would get them to sign the ticket releasing us from liability if we broke the driveway. In some cases we would run 5 yard loads so we weren't too heavy.

I'd just let them run through the yard and fix it after.

You can always get a cement mixer buy bags of cement have your buddies come over and help you may take a while but it might be cheaper in the long run

You'd only have to mix about 1500 bags
