Long Trip; fuel burn?
Taking my boat (1748 37hp pro drive) on a long trip. Up to 50 miles between fuel stops. I have duel tanks but haven't ran it enough to get a reliable fuel burn. Any one have any reliable knowledge about Hrs/ Rpm/ fuel burn/ miles people are getting out of a similar rig? Just looking for a gallons per mile avg.
Don't want to end up having to float the river or navigate locks without power. Thanks

Re: Long Trip; fuel burn?
My carb motor seems to get 5.5 - 6 MPG under WOT around 3900 RPMs with a fairly heavy 2 man hunt load.
I've made a particular 14 mile run dozens of times and seem to use around 2.5 gallons.

Re: Long Trip; fuel burn?
I think I get about 27-30 miles on a 6 gallon tank. Mostly running WOT.
I've done a lot of very long trips, and for a 50 mile run, I'm very comfortable with 2 six gallon tanks and emergency 2 gallon can.

Re: Long Trip; fuel burn?
I seem to use 2 gal/hour of running.

Re: Long Trip; fuel burn?
We rode on the river 97 miles one day. Halfway with current and half against. I burned 11 gallons of fuel and had to tip the gas tank up to get it on the trailer.

Re: Long Trip; fuel burn?
My camp is a 24 mile trip each way. Went this past weekend, frogged for five hours or so. Trip out was two people, 65 Yeti, 10 gallons of diesel and spare change of clothes. Tooled around the marsh with 4 people. Rode the 24 miles back to the ramp with 2 people and lighter load. Probably burned ~12 gallons? I have a 16 gallon tank and I probably hit the ramp with 1/4 tank. To/from the ramp, we weren't WOT all the time....3800-4100 RPM's.
