Jawbone BIG JAMBOX. I initially bought a Bose Soundlink Mini but returned it that day due to totally underwhelming volume. It was very clear but again, no volume. The Jawbone has the same clarity but serious volume as well.

Re: portable Bluetooth speaker
UE Megaboom. I was like Frank and tried a Bose first, had a good sound but very little volume. I like my megaboom and the bluetooth range is outstanding. Only problem is that its round and it rolls around in the boat if you don't wedge it against something. I have a friend with a Jawbone big jambox and it sounds good and is probably a little louder than mine.
