From the video I have, but can’t seem to post, it is 6am and motor is just sitting in the driveway with the cover on. Hasn’t been used for 14 Days. Just all of a sudden catches on fire. Got the video off of security cameras. GTR said it is the regulator that caused it. Everything is under warranty. Maybe I can send someone the video and they can post it here. |

If the wiring was properly fused, the short would pop the fuse, and there would be no fire though. |

The BS is on a GT frame and it is a GT. If a GMC has a gasket fail do they blame it on the gasket maker or is it a GMC problem? When MB had their problems no matter what it was it was blamed on MB. I think it's as much GTs fault as Briggs, because they apparently know there's an issue and they haven't told people to unhook their battery when the boat isn't in use. Not that it would matter, because that regulator would just pop when it was running, but still, a public service announcement since they're selling them like that would be nice. If they know about it, and they should, and Briggs should too, they should all be telling everyone and that bad batch of regulators needs to come with a free replacement regardless of whether it's exploded or caused a fire. Just called Gator Tail. Man claimed that only two have burned up. He claimed it was on regulators that had internal capacitors. He stated that Briggs has remedied the problem, and they are no longer using the internal capacitor regulators. |

I seen one do this, but it was on a 2012 Pro Drive. Not that it matters, But it probably was short circuit failure on my experience. Regulators are low on the list of issues from my experience aswell. |

I'm sure there's a low occurrence, but bad batches of parts come out of those factories all the time for various things. Since this is 2 very recent motors with the issue, I doubt anyone except Briggs has seen anything other than a low occurrence. Doesn't make it something to ignore.
