Post No Mud Motors allowed in the MCOFR
The Morgan City Oilfield Rodeo passed a rule banning mud motors from the fishing rodeo. The rule states:

[b][/Restricted Watercraftsb]
No Air Boats, Mud Boats, Jet Drives, Surface Drives, or Air-cooler Engines will be allowed.

See the link below. I fished it the last 2 years, but I won't be fishing it this year because of this rule change. I haven't fished it out of a mud motor, but my family owns a business that sells and services mud motors. I can't support a tournament banning the equipment that provides a major source of income for my familie's business.

The part of this that really gets to me is that four of the major Mud Motor manufacturers are located in Louisiana, and in my opinion, the tournament just gave them the finger. Outboard motors manufactured by foreign owned companies are welcome, but mud motors manufactured in Louisiana are banned. Not to mention all of the businesses that service and supply parts, and build boats for mud motors. I would think that a local Morgan City tournament would be welcoming to equipment built in Louisiana.

I agree with you that they seem to be making a poor decision. Do you have any idea why they made that decision?
