Post Oil Change Intervals in your vehicle??
I finally got a vehicle that'll read the hours on the motor. LOL

My question is, does anyone change their oil in their vehicle going by the hours on the motor and not the miles put on it? If so, how many hours do people change their oil at? 100 hrs? 300?

Really just bored and wanting to see if theres more people doing it than I thought?

I always run Mobil 1 synthetic. and usually am comfortable going 7k-8k miles on an oil change.

Seems like I saw a thread about this before but I cant find it.

Use 3 in 1 oil. Then you can go 739 hours with just a filter change halfway through.

Marvel Mystery Oil does good too. Other than that I'm old school and do 3-4 K between oil changes, and get worried if it gets close to 4.

My truck had 4100 hours on it at 175000 miles. I change the oil every 8000 miles. That's about 187 hours per oil change. Interesting...

A man told me to change mine every 500 hours with John Deere brand oil and not worry about the hours. I’ve never done it, but he has a fleet of trucks that seem to be doing pretty well. I run either Amsoil or
Mobil 1 with Baldwin filters every 8-10k.

That's why I looked at my overall at 175K. Remote starts, idling, in town driving, road trips, will make the miles to hour ratio differ from time to time.

My last gas burner I ran Mobil 1 and did 5k mile intervals.....because the math was easy...even for somebody from Morgan City. Got rid of it at 267,000 miles...

Current diesel sees ~10,000 mile intervals...but, it’s got a “Remaining Oil Life” message display in percent...hits 0%, change the oil.....so I don’t have to do the math with mileage or hours. That’s been working pretty good for almost 14 years and 330,000 miles.

Best way to know is send a sample to have a used oil analysis done. Then the company will tell ya if you can extend the interval or not. Pretty simple.

I agree with Maxxis85, My ram 2500 diesel says mileage/hours or every 6 months which ever comes first. Well the 6 months get me. I have a 2016 with 24,000 miles and that includes one trip to Miami and 2 or 3 to Connecticut.

I agree with ya too, Marcus.

Also, I looked at info on my truck.

For 144 hours, I have put 5500 miles on my truck.

Im thinking i'll be safe in the 200 hour oil change range.

I'll check my hour meter and oil again when I get to around 7000 miles.
