The duck season in NZ is finally happening, we got it knocked back 3 weeks with this whole corona scam. Waituna where I shoot is low, like 12 inches low soge only option I have this year is the long tail. Anyway I have had a 24hp honda with a fresh rebuild sitting in my garage for years now. And it's the right time to fit it up, 4 days out from opening. I cracked the bolts of the old motor and it slid forward.....but the shaft stayed with it. Why??? |

I was lucky and managed to get a machine shop to put a key way and a thread on some 316 stainless in less than 24h. If anything it's a bit of a sign of the future as businesses are either busy or dead quiet. Would still like to know why the last one snapped if anybody has an idea. |

Global Warming. Seriously though, misalinged shaft putting stress and excess heat at that point and instead of the bearing giving some and failing, the shaft took the fatigue and failed. Does that bearing rotate smooth and easy, or is it bound up some? Or maybe there was already a crack or weakness at that exact spot in the shaft, impact with a log or something caused it to weaken further and it broke from continuous vibration when running. Maybe something else entirely. Just a couple ideas from looking at one picture of it on the internet. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |
