Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
Well, it will fit, but I have to put it in tongue first and that's a real big pain in the balls. I have these real nice cedar cabinets in my garage that a buddy help me build and I don't want to have to take them down. I need the rear end of my boat to squat about 10 inches for the motor to clear the lower part of the cabinets and roll under them.
So far the best solution I have come up with is to possibly put another trailer jack further back on the trailer, in front of the axle, so that it would have more travel and get the rear end to squat down enough. Only problem is that I would probably have to put a 2x4 or two inbetween the frame of the trailer and the jack so that there is enough clearence outside of the boat to allow the jack to function properly. Any other ideas? The SOB is heavy so I'm trying to avoid using some stacked cinder blocks and lifting the tongue of the trailer onto them.

Cut the boat in half!
Just kiddin. Ever consider a swing away tongue trailer? The tongue swivels back givin ya an extra 2 feet or so.

Go to academy and put a bigger jack on there. They have a lot of different ones there and you should be able to find one a lot bigger. Also why not raise your cabinets. We ran into the same problem at our house and have to park our cars outside. We park the boat diagonally and line the walls with decoys. LOL What a man will do for a duck.

Re: Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
Already have the swing away tongue installed. I don't think I will find a jack tall enough to get the tongue of the trailer high enough and the transom low enough to get the clearance I need if I install it on the tongue. That's why I think I might install it closer to the axle. That way I don't need as much travel out of the jack to get the same result.

I would consider that if I had steel rafters.

Re: Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
Would someone please postess me a photo of a DuckBoat/Fishin'Boat that deserves to be placed in such a shelter. I would thank that a 10 dolla tarp would serve you well and leave the boat outside.

Mine sits under a canopy, but if that wasnt there, the Tarp would have to suffice. Unless you in one of those restricted neighborhoods where if you fart wrong youll get a fine.

Re: Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
would it be possible to built just an overhead shelter for the boat like they said? you could buy a nice carport that wouldnt look bad. My buddy did that and poured two cement lanes for the tires to sit on. It looks real nice.

yeah, and worst comes to worst, put a big feed bucket over the motor and be done with it. The boat is in water all the time anyway.

I live in one of those types of neighborhoods. It really aint much, but it is goverened by a Homeowners Association. It's gay. I'll be lookin to move a little further into the country and be able to have and build whatever I want.

Re: Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
what if you got smaller rims and tires, really small, like golf cart rims small, just for parking in the garage? if changing rims each time you use the boat is too much trouble, try letting the air out of the tires ya got now, maybe that plus jacking all the way up might get you close. hard to figure with out pics.

Re: Boat won't fit in garage - need ideas
Well, I have decided to just contour the cabinets around the motor. Might look a little funny when the boat isn't in there, but it will be functional. Thanks for the input fellas. I don't want to have to pull it in tongue first every time, I don't want to have to change tires or inflate tires each time out, and I don't think the wife would be thrilled if I just floored like the fella in the video.
