An Intake helps some. (get a colsed box design that helps with flow, I suggest keeping stock box and just replacing the air intake tube to make for a free vlow from the box to the Throttle body)

Do not buy a Throttle body spacer. They do nothing to help power/economy (all you get is a cool whistle from it)

A prgorammer will help a little bit by improving the shift points, and adjusting the timing of the engine. (not much to gain from an out of the box programmer on a gas motor)

Exhaust will help ( Get a good free flowing exhaust that aids in scavageing the Exhaust gasses from the engine. Too much flow is bad so NO true dual exhaust.. Keep it in the stock orientation and get a good flowing muffler... or catback system, and keep the head pipe system to the cat)

Tire pressure, Run the max pressure your comfortable with without jarring yourself or over inflating the tire. (less rolling resistance..)

Improve your driving habits will be the BEST improvement you will find. Its not as fun but you will get better mileage and be driving liek a grandpa LOL
(take off easier in town and keep the RPM's below 2k and start coasting to a stop instead of waiting until the last minute to stop then gun it to get going again.)

Good luck

They are notorious for bad gas mileage. It's a beast of a truck and enjoy it. Go buy a domestic with a smaller engine or get a Tacoma if you want to save gas.... :P

I am getting my gas pedal fixed for the second time this week. I am not happy with the first attempt. My buddy had his fixed a second time and was very pleased with it. We'll see...
