I was contacted today by a representative of BP. They were inquiring to see if Petco (which is obviously who I work for) would be willing to donate kennels to put animals in that they were cleaning off. I explained to the lady that the kennels retail from $50 up to $150 and that Petco only donates to non-profits like SPCA and that I doubt they would donate to a corporation that made $6 billion last quarter but they were more than welcome to come to my store and purchase them. She hung up on me...

I don't see how you guys are pointing the finger at BP, Transocean was doing the drilling which they were contracted out to BP, at the time of the explosion there were 126 people on board, 6 of them are BP employees. I can see that BP does not look good right now because of the Texas City explosion, but i mean if it were any body else would you be pointing the finger?

Maybe i am missing something, there are several drilling companies out there and just because this incident happened and BP was doin the drilling we all freak out. Hell if it wasn't for those guys out there doing the drilling and busting their arses we would not have the finer things that we have.

I was a driller and an oil and gas operator for several years so i know whats to be expected. Its just the life we lead and sometimes its not always good.

I talk to my dad everyday and he only has like 5 min. at a time to talk because there are people going in and out of his office getting ready to get on boats out of Fouchon. Its crazy over there! :x

quack good for u.. take em, sorry but i have to disagree wit u.. who was doing the drilling doesnt matter. it was bp's well wit bp's reps. on board dat rig overseeing the work bieng performed and saying everything is good to go everyday. so in the end, bp is responsible.

and if anyone here has ever worked for bp u know how strict they are with accident prevention and environmental protection..kinda ironic dont u think??

This was an ACCIDENT. Not really anybody's fault for too much pressure causing an explosion. The only finger that could be pointed is towards the safety company who's shut off's failed. My 2 cents.

take em..

im sorry that me disagree'n with u offends u so much. but if in fact there was a safety valve that was supposed to be down there and wasn't, the bp hands on board knew about it. comp. reps. or third party consultants are on them projects from when it arrives on site till the platform is on loc. and online. its jus ma imput on the situation ;)

there were "cut off" systems in place to prevent this. They just failed. I know there are a lot of people trying to make the best of a bad situation. God bless the families who lost loved ones. My hat goes off to BP for taking responsibilty and paying for it. They could have fought this and tried to make someone else pay for it but they didn't.

Cant we just have Peace, Love, and happiness??

Obama and BP was nice enough to give all Louisiana Coast residents FREE oil.. And Petco wont donate some Kennels? What is this World coming to?

I do think that BP could afford some kennels, Making 9 billion dollas in the 1st three quarters should be able to buy some. Now back to who's responsible.......... BP in the long run will be held responsible.

BP leased out the drilling to Transocean, Correct? Transocean has its own safety department im sure and all the safety measures were in place. That being said it still falls on BP because they also have that safety department and TO(being a subcontractor) has to answer to BP(the owner). Now if BP didn't check the measures that TO had in place that is their fault and ultimately holds them responsible too. If you are paying someone to do a job for you it is your job to make sure that they are doing it in the safest manner. Which in the long run means BP is responsible whether you agree with it or not.

In the real world when you get someone to do work for you and it doesn't get done right the person that did it is held responsible but in the long run it's your ass because you hired them or told them to do it so it falls on your shoulders. I do believe that both parties should have to pay for this mess. Accidents do happen in and out of the workplace and when they happen it needs to be fixed and it needs to be corrected so that it does not happen again and more people do not loose their lives again. I heard it was a methane bubble that ignited and cause the fire so therefore what can be done and what can the entire industry learn from this sad sad tragic incident???

its an accident, no one can despute that. but the one with the deepest pockets will be held respnnsible. that the american way now a days. im sure bp and the drilling co. will do there best to make it right but bp will end up the responsible party, because they have the money.

its the state of our country these days. "lawsuit" some worthless person in north bfe somewhere will sue bp and win because it hurt there feelings or some crap like that.

By the time this is all said and done, everyone associated with the rig will be in the lawsuit, even the caterer. The sue as many as they can fit on the paper and the jusry will assign what percentage of blame each defendant gets/pays.

This thing will drag on for probably 10+ years.

how it will most likely pan out.... BP takes on the responsibility for all damages and clean up efforts due to they are the lease holder for the well.....

Pending the investigation findings BP will be able to bring the actual company found at fault to court... to recoup some or all damages.... if the lawyers are good BP may be able to recoup more than actual losses due to damages to the company image blah blah blah....

just my take on the whole issue...
