Post The devil and his decoys
As with most people, I get more out of a message at church when it can be applied directly to my own life. Often times I find myself in a situation where a message comes to me, and this year, one came to me in a duck blind. This is the first time Ive ever had any place to share experiences, so this has been coming to me a little at a time since January.

We all face temptations on a daily basis, no matter who you are, what you do, or where you are. The devil will place people in your path that will try to steer you in the wrong direction, and it is up to us to determine the good from the bad. That takes experience and maturity in your faith to learn fully, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

When we hunt ducks, we sort of do the same thing to the birds as the devil does to us. We take a lot of time preparing our spread of decoys that are designed to look like beautiful, relaxed ducks. We want flying ducks to look down and say “man that looks like the place to be! That one is sleeping, the other one is feeding!” We all know ducks don’t do either of these unless they are sure there is no danger present.

You see, the devil has decoys too, and I don’t mean Academy $20 a dozen decoys either.! He uses the nice flocked ones! Sometimes these are in the form of a woman with some ‘nice curves’ that looks like she would be ‘the place to be’, but like a decoy, it is a hollow, lifeless shell. And just like the ducks, if we fall prey to the decoys, we will be shot down. So the next time youre faced with something that looks like ‘the place to be’, ask yourself first-“is this the real thing, a situation that can get me closer to my personal goals and better my relationship with Christ? Or is this just a nice spread?”

The devil has many temptations waiting around every corner. Keep him out of your life by keeping Jesus in your life!

Never really thought of it like that. Not only just the decoys but the calling too. When we call at ducks we are trying to persuade them that this is where they want to be. The devil uses the voice inside our head to say its ok to do blah blah blah or whatever the temptation is. Just like ducks circling in to land they get closer and closer each time, we slowly give in and get more and more comfortable doing whatever the temptation is. Then just like that its BOOM, BOOM, BOOM and we have to face the consequences of our thoughts and actions.

Post The devil and his decoys
After reading this post a week later, I began to ponder over this story and how it relates to real life situations. As the devil sits in his blind drinking his coffee he is observing the way we react to his set up, taking notes, watching our flight patters, the way we respond to his calls and making sure he has just the right amount of camouflage on his blind. The devil is one of the best hunters, he doesn't just pick up go home when his setup is not successful, he makes adjustments to his spread, puts in a few comfort decoys, changes his calling and repositions his blind. It's just like real life he is always changing tactics to trick you and I.

John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

I encourage you to stay in the word, prepare your self for the tricks that get thrown your way and most important remain faithful regardless of the benefit.

That was awsome man! So easily understood. I have a friend who is a pastor and I think I will show this to him. He might be able to use this one Sunday.
