 Decoys
Looking to get some new decoys this year...I am leaning toward the GHG Pro Grade decoys anybody have experience with them? How well do they hold up? Any suggestion of other brands that you like?

 Re: Decoys
I've got the GHG puddler packs and FA gunner decoys. Like all of them, and they've held up well so far.
Oh, yeah.... I use slotted bags too. It's really easy to swap out dekes , depending on where I'm going. And if I know how deep the water should be, I preset the depth on the lines. It makes setting and picking up the rig really fast. And as stated, the bargain cave is a great way to pick them up cheap.

 Re: Decoys
I pretty much loved all the ghg decoys that i have bought. The magnums are alittle big though.

 Re: Decoys
The pro grades look really good out of the box, but i haven't had much luck with the paint... I am not rough on decoys but I dont treat them like fine china either. But I still love them.

 Re: Decoys
I run alomst all GHG but i also do the slotted bags to protect them. I run about 15 dozen floaters and 15 dozen full bodys. If your doing geese go with big foot water or field cant beat them. for motion in the field though the GHG pro grades work awesome and so do all the Full body mallards. I love the new PRO Grade I have the wigeon the mallards the teal and wooducks. Like i said they look awesome and are holding up well but i also keep them all in 12 slot bags

 Re: Decoys
Like FH said, keep em in slotted bags and they will be fine. Me personally, i dont have room or the $$ for the slotted bags.

 Re: Decoys
I agree the bags get alittle spendy I usally try to just buy the Field Khaki one and watch for sales or them in the bargain cave at Cableas. I have gotten more then one bag for right around $20.00. They do take up alittle room in the boat but its nice to just through it over your neck wade out and ya got a dozen right their.

 Re: Decoys
Julie Gilberts, Greg Daiseys, Pete Hilliards, and Norman Williams ducks. My geese are Hammond and Home made Decoys Unlimited bodies with Reggie Birch heads.
My divers are home made Decoys Unlimited, soon to be joined by 60 G&H Divers. I ordered a demo pair of Landing Zone Bluebills, and they are beautiful, but I will have to hold off on getting them some company until my 2012 waterfowling budget is funded.
I've had good luck with the lined Wingset bags.
I know the gook chit is pretty, and cheap, but I just can't see sending my money over there when it is needed here!

 Re: Decoys
Let me clarify before someone has the opportunity to be a smart a$$. . .
Have the heads lost that dullness and started to shine more? Any problems with the keels? Are you hard on your decoys?

 Re: Decoys
I like the ghg dekes but the paint just does not hold up. I got some of the pro grade teal last season and the greenwings held up good but the bluewing drakes look like crap. I have greys, widgeon and teal and all of them have lost paint in the first season.

 Re: Decoys
GHG is the best lookin decoy for the money IMO, but i would not buy the pro-grades, got 6 bluewings used only this season and the paint is chippin bad! got 6 widgeons never used and the paint is chippin! but all my others that are not pro grades still look great!!

 Re: Decoys
I bought the whole pro grade series when they first came out. The paint holds up pretty good and im tough on them, but like everybody says the bluewings chip like crazy!

 Re: Decoys
Here is a cell pic of some of the ghg pro grade teal I got last year. Now they do get used alot and I do not use a slotted bag. The greenwings all look fine it was just the bluewings that lost the most.

 Re: Decoys
Thanks for all the info guys....with all of the complaints about paint chipping I may look into a different direction. I am fairly rough on my decoys, so I am not sure if these decoys would work.

 Re: Decoys
Its hard to beat a bigfoot decoy even their mallard floaters and field decoys are as indestuctable as they come. You can drop em outta of plane and hit the pavment and they dont sctatch or break

 Re: Decoys
I use some GHG decoys, mostly coots and ring necks but I did get the puddler pack this year. So far they've held up fine and when they get too messed up, I spray paint them black and turn them into coots.

 Re: Decoys
The best paint I've seen for durability is on the G&H birds, years later they have lost little or no paint, but they aren't the prettiest bird, and they're expensive. If GHG ever gets their paint technique, the others may as well close their doors.

 Re: Decoys
Drake Double Dutys suck they are just like the first ones GHG came out with, the snap lock keel I had to silicone every keel onto my decoys because you would throw them out the keel comes off and my decoys would float away. Then GHG wants like 12 bucks for 4 replament keels I can buy a dozen new decoys for the price of 12 replacement keels. The new GHG are better but the pain still sucks. The most durable are the bigfoots

 Re: Decoys
Drake Double duty decoys SUCK THE BIG ONE. Bought them, never even used them before I made up my mind on them being pieces of SHeat. I bought some Dakota mallard X-treme flocked head decoys. Spendy, but they are the best looking decoy sitting on the water in my opinion.

 Re: Decoys
I hate GHG decoys. They are heavy and paint job sucks on them. I bought the new Flambeaus last year and love them!! And we are all buyin the new Featherlites this year. Not the fusion series. Cant remember the name of them but so far we like them.

 Re: Decoys
think he is talkin about the dead ringer series, its thier hard molded decoy. supposed to be the super strongest, most durable paint, most realistic production decoy on the market... then again, aint they all?
