 Preferred barrel length
Since we've been talking guns.... What barrel length do you guys prefer? My last 5 shotguns have been 24" but I'm thinking I may get a 26 or 28 this time just to change things up a bit.

 Re: Preferred barrel length
I love my 28 inch barrel, but I also turkey hunt with the same shotgun I duck hunt with, so I enjoy having a longer barrel all I do is swap chokes, but nothin hits as far out as the 31 inch browning a5 barrel I have, I think they made them as long as like 34 inchs long....

 Re: Preferred barrel length
My Dad has a marlin with a 40inch barrel itll knock em out of the stratosphere the major advantage to longer barrels is a longer sighting plane which makes most folks more accurate Sent via telegraph

 Re: Preferred barrel length
I have had 28 inch my whole life, and the last shotgun I bought, was a 26. I like it a lot better. A lot smoother swinging and with today's chokes you loose no range, also drops a few ounces!!!

 Re: Preferred barrel length
I like a 24, but couldn't find one when I was looking so my beretta has a 26. Doesn't bother me much.

 Re: Preferred barrel length
With todays modern choke tubes, a longer barrel gives you a smoother "swing" and a longer sight plane, thats it. It will not pattern any tighter like the old fixed choke guns, that is a common misconception. The forcing cone length is the same on a longer barrel as it is a short one. Choose the one that points, feels, and swings the best for you. I personally like 26-28 inch

 Re: Preferred barrel length
I like a 26 on a semi auto and a 28 on an o/u. Puts em on about the same length.
