I use a floating gun case for one thing,to float the gun if I sink or flip in a pirogue. That's it! I don't hunt out of a boat and my cases stay wet from hunting in low cover high water areas. That's why I have synthetic stock meat guns. I don't use them for a paddle but they are exposed to the elements every hunt.

If I hunted in loafers or stayed in the boat I could wrap my guns in socks or leather too

I've got a floating case that is built by final approach. Think kolpin actually built it but any way it's the tuffest case I've seen. I think is was water proof when I got it like 5 years ago. Best thing about it is the rubber end that your barrel goes up against. Keeps the barrel from busting through the end like all the other case I've seen

I have the drake floating case too -- been a great case for about 3 years now -- only 1 issue was the snap broke off but the velcro is still there

Went teal hunting in the rain this morning. Put my wet ass gun in the wax canvas case (which was dry inside).... Got the gun out when I got home, it was bone dry and rust free as usual.

And btw, I didn't wear a red coat or penny loafers, EDDIE!

I can definitely see why you would want one to float in a pirogue.
