Well I finally was able to pick up my new gun today and put a few rounds through it. Ill start off by saying Im in no way a shotgun expert, nor have I shot alot of different ones. Ive been shopping for a semi auto since last year when I started duck hunting, and never could really decide what I wanted because I couldnt find one that fit me perfect. They all came with shims to lengthen the pull, but my problem was just the opposite. This is the only gun that fit me exactly the way it should, it has shims that allow it to go down all the way to 13" length of pull. 13.5 ended up perfect for me. It has the action of the previous 391, and the previous gas system of the A400, so I wasnt concerned about it being a new gun with bugs that would have to be worked out down the road. It wasnt in the budget for me to spend 1600-1800 on a benelli or higher end beretta, and at 650$ the price was perfect. The fore end is very slim, and is very comfortable and looks good, although the butt stock seems a little on the cheap side. It doesnt shoot 3 1/2's, but that didnt matter to me because I have no use for them. It uses their 'mobile choke' system, which is kinda hard to find. I got an extended range improved choke from Team Camo, hes an authorized dealer for Angleport. I was concerned a little about it not being compatible with Beretta's kick off, but after shooting a few rounds through it today Im not even worried about it, it shoots like a dream without it. So unless later down the road I either 1.have a need for a gun that shoots 3 1/2's, or 2.develop some uncanny skill in shooting that this one can no longer satisfy me, this may be the last shotgun Ill have to buy. Ill see how it patterns this weekend and reply to this with the results. If you buy one, be prepared to spend some time cleaning it initially. Its filled with more packing grease than a bench vise from Harbor Freight. And big thanks to Crews for answering all the questions Ive had along the way, the dude definitely knows his shotguns!!

Ive got a 3901 and never even considered needing a kick off. I'm sure you will love it I know I love my beretta and if you run across another a300 let a brother know

Thanks for the review.. it seems like a real solid gun! This is most likely going to be my next shotgun as well.. Unless I decide to just stick with the A5 this season.. ive been debating on retiring it this season.. At only $650 it seems like an extremely good deal. Let us know how it patterns!

congrats on the purchase, but saying you don't need a 3 1/2 capable gun is like saying you don't need reverse on a mm. Sure you will be fine most of the time, but there will come a time when you'll wish you had it.

Rod how many chokes came with it? Picking mine up in the a.m......finally. I may try to pick up some flush fit chokes for it. I'm used to a 24" gun, I don't want to make it any longer.

I went trough the spill on 3 1/2 inch shells you can kill them just as good with 3" I see no need to shoot them either. My next gun will be 3"

I agree as well, no 3.5" needed. Of course, I also think the original A5 was a great gun in it's day, so I'm apparently an old bastard with no clue what "today's duck hunter's" really need, lol.

I forgot that you guys are still wearing t-shirts at the end of your season. Try hunting late snow geese in February when every bit of the water around has 18-24 inches of ice and there is 2+ feet of snow covering everything. But then again you guys are the best of the best at everything so you could probably still do just fine with a .410!

Try hunting the Gulf coast in late season, after all the birds have been sky busted at by guys up north shooting 3-1/2" all season.
I do just fine with my 2-3/4 & 3" shells, shooting them over the dekes, like you should do, not trying to knock em down from the Ozone layer.

Nice gun at a resonable price it looks to be ...... Does the Black finish appear to be durable ? Lots of the Black finish types I have seen seem to rust easily ...

3" shells is all I have ever needed ..... 'course I was bless with a BigOleDong tho ......

I've been hunting ducks for 27yrs and never needed a 3 1/2" shell.

Glad you like the new firearm Rod. I was looking into them and waiting for their release. Don't worry about the 3.5" BS I've killed everything under the sun with 3" rounds and that does include quite a few snows both down here and up north.

I own several 3.5" guns and never shoot long shells out of them,it's just not necessary for me.

Just got mine clean. I love it. It'll be dipped soon I hope. They fudged a little on the barrel finish so keep an eye on it.

Where are yall getting yalls from? Are they in stores yet? I havent had time to check gander or academy here yet..

Cabelas. Rod turned me on to the gun I bought. I haven't seen them anywhere for sale. Call your local cabelas and ask for the special orders guy. Maybe he'll be nice and check if another store has one if he doesn't. That's how I scored mine.

I think the closest cabelas around here is 3 or so hours away.. can they be shipped to your door?
