Mix of oysters and mud is what I look for. Tidal creeks and grassy flats have worked for me too. Find the bait and you'll find the fish, if you know what they look like.

what I do is we have a honda 2000 generator one of the little quite ones and I just use 2 500w halogen work lights from wal mart $15 and tape them down on the front of the boat. In deeper water (1-2ft) you can pole with the gig and in shallow where the boat drags you and your buddy get out and walk along the sides of the front and just guide the boat along with you its very simple and quiter than the large boats with the fan motor and you can actually get in shallower if you have a smaller boat. I have some pictures and videos i shot with my phone of flounder in the water getting giged I can't get to upload that would be more helpful. The main thing is you just have to go and keep going try different things you will learn it look for beds to along the shore if you see beds you know your in the right area it just may be the wrong time i.e. tidal change or moon phase. If you need a gig check out gigflounder.com the guy is my neighbor and makes badass gigs.
