 Re: Decoy rigging
Still use the old string and lead strap method. One of these days I'll change to something better, but for now it'll do.

 Re: Decoy rigging
I have avery Keel grabbers and hate them. When all the bungee straps break and I loose my weights ill try something new.
Ive been thinking of riggin this with regular strap weights: Crimped loop, depth adjuster, Decoy, anchor tied off. You would slide the weight up to the decoy keel and then run the depth adjuster down to the other side of the keel and itd hold the weight in place no matter if you lost tension on the strings.

 Re: Decoy rigging
If you do the fixed anchor weight and use swivel snaps on the decoy to slide up and down the mono you don't need depth adjusters. The decoy adjusts depth automatically by sliding up and down the mono.

 Re: Decoy rigging
If you hunt in water that is 5' deep and fast moving current like I do all the time those texas rigs are nothing but a pian in the ass. If I hunted in water less than 3 feet deep at all times those texas rigs would be the only way to go.... I have rigged up a bunch that way and they are easy to put out and fast to pick up!

 Re: Decoy rigging
The lead will most likely be free. Worst case is the you have to 5$ for 50-75lbs of lead. They have to dispose of it anyway. You can buy a couple of different molds and make fishing weights and jig heads for life.
