 Decoys
Time for some new decoys because my GHG have finally lost enough paint and broken that I need to buy more. Looking at the final approach gunner HD, y'all have any experience with them? Or some others that won't break the bank.

 Re: Decoys
Seen it before I believed it, but 2 liter coke bottles painted black! I know sounds like bull shit, but an old dude I hunt with at bayou metro used them on the Arkansas river and that's all we used!! Killed 4 limits, mostly gadwalls but I was happy! Haven't tried them in the timber yet. But that shit is all over the internet!

 Re: Decoys
2 liters are old school! Biggest thing I look for when I get decoys is contrast, that's what gets birds attention. For instance on a Dakota Canada floater that huge white butt might look wierd but I guarantee you a goose can see it from a long ways off. I always buy mags too for what it's worth. Get their attention and finish em with your call.

 Re: Decoys
I've used coke bottles before, they only work in very big areas. I hunt tight areas most of the time.

 Re: Decoys
FA dekes I had all flaked the paint really fast. That's been several years ago. Maybe they are better. I like the foam filled hidgon and even the tanglefree foam filled, with the fully flocked . They finish mallard like no other. We were getting sometimes 200 mallards to finish in them late last year. Ill be buying more this year

 Re: Decoys
I have the fa's and have been pleased with them. But I bought Dakotas last yr too and would take the Dakotas over the fa.

 Re: Decoys
Use a clear coat on new decoys out of the box and helps the paint last.

 Re: Decoys
I have clear coated decoys before. Definitely helps as long as the original paint is somewhat sticking to the plastic. Really big improvements on the ones I wire brush the old paint and repaint then clear coat. I always just used the matte krylon clear coat spray can. Do like 2 or 3 light misty coats and you will be good. Go to heavy and it doesn't work as good.
