Post Basin fishing w/kid
My boy is getting to a good age to start perch jerking and enjoying the boat. I've always fished in the marsh, but am going to start staying closer to home since our fishing trips will likely be shorter than the drive it takes to get there.

I live in Prairieville and have heard that Whiskey Bay launch off I-10, Bayside for Lake Verret or Doirron's are good places to launch and go, since the boat rides aren't too far. I've never been to either and will scout out first, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other recommendations as to where to launch and go with a young buck. Thanks

The public launch for the spillway is a good one. Take hwy70 until it hits the levee and hang a right. Itll be a little ways down on the left. Gaudets for Lake verret is a good one. Take hwy70 until you hit pierre part bay, make a left at the bridge. It will be a little ways down on the right

You can also go to Ruddock, Just north of Laplace. Mostly quiet but you can fish all along the canal there, pull up underneath the interstate for some sun relief. Go out in the Lake maurepas, maybe even handline for crabs if you want. There are some pretty little bayous off of there too that are real shallow and will see plenty of gators, birds to teach him. And all pretty close to the landing so that if a thunder storm comes up, you are close in.

You can also go put in on Stringer Bridge road where the bridge is. Just down from St. Amant High school. Can go to Petite Amite and even blind river. Blind River at St James boat club. Can be a lot of boat traffic though, till you get to the wide part.

Thanks, guys.

VooDoo - I've heard of Stringer Bridge, but never been over there either. That is very close to the house so I'll probably go check it out. Thanks again!
