Post 8 point Red stag
I'm amped nailed a good 8 pointer today in the Longwoods....public land
They're rutting at the moment but not making any noise about it so are difficult to find.
Was pushing my way through an area that looked like a deer yards on the ground and let out a moan.
The scrub about 30 feet in front of me exploded and this guy did a 180 degree loop of me and came charging in and was not stopping. Suppressed Ar with 55g fmj and I had no chose but to get amongst him with it at 7 yards. Tryed a Double tap in the chest and he took off aaround his same ark so I loosened off a round every time he showed.
Thick scrub prevented me finding him so I legged it out the 3 miles to my ute and home to get the dogs and found him late evening.

Lol the taste is a secondary thought for me. The rack on my wall is what I'm after. I could use some more sausage though

I like snow for dragging. Most deer here are between 140-200lbs dressed. They slide real nice with 2-3inches of snow and it's easy to walk em out. Most my drags tend to be between a mile or two on relatively flat land through the bush. We don't do a lot of carrying and packing meat out in my area. How big is a typical stag.
