How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Forgot to check plug and almost sank boat at launch Bildge pump failed. Battery died after setting out decoys. Garfish ate 1/2 of our teal kill.

How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Quite surprised the story didn't read something along these lines:
Which one of you stole the drain plug from my boat and almost sank boat at launch The same guy that stole the plug sabotaged my bilge pump to make sure it sank. One of you broke the alternator on my motor hoping I would get stranded. I suspect it was a guy in a neon green cap, wearing a yellow slicker suit and driving a red metal flake boat all over the North Flats that stole half of the birds we dropped.

Dean, if you want to take real shots at me, I'm about to get on I-10 at Breaux Bridge and will be crossing Henderson in a few. Get on the south side of the interstate where I can see you...I'll start blowing the horn to give you a heads up....and slow down so you don't have to lead too much. But, Crew Cab and LWB....there's plenty to aim for.

Karma is a bitch.
On a sidenote, has anyone ever actually seen a gar eat teal..? Most of the time gar actually eat smaller baitfish and don't go after large meals because their throats are small.

I've watched bald eagles pick up dead birds off the water....several times. I think they were trained to know the sound of that 10 gauge was actually a dinner bell for them!

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Doesn't happen really on the marshes but when you hunt farm ponds here there's always a hawk or an eagle perched within 200 yards of you and it's a race between the dog and the bird to retrieve the dead duck.
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Nearly got into a fight last year with a redtailed hawk. He wanted the grey duck we were chasing. He didn't fly away when I cranked the engine, and he was in the tree just bumped. He seemed very interested in trying to get the bird out of the boat til we motored off.

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
I've had gar drag off a duck , and I could still see it .. It looked like a duck butt decoy moving on a jerk string. Took it under water for a few seconds then floated back up. Happened a couple times before I decided to go pick them up. Figured a gator would eat it whole and be done

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Have lost several to a bald eagle here in Florida. Actually, had the same eagle try and pick up a decoy and fly off with it! lost ducks to otters and snapping turtles but, oddly enough, never a gator.

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Ospreys steal our birds all the time. Had the same thing happen to me when a bald eagle tried to make off with one of my coot decoys. Its always a race during early teal between me and the closest small gator.

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
Late season we get arctic owls that steal them. Also the leeches will ball up on them and sink them

Eagles are always harreassing Ducks up here in Sconie. They should no longer be endangered. Probably taste like loon for the Minnesotans. Hunting otherwise has been ok. 2 drake woodies, 4 blue wing and 11 mallards last weekend. Hoping for more divers soon!

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
I've had blue crabs take all the feathers and skin off of whatever side of the bird happens to be in the water. I have also had a hawk intercept a crippled teal of out of thin air right in front of us. Awesome to see

Re: How was your hunt today? Here's mine
We had a guy that had the lease across the river from us in CO whose dog would frequently swim across the river and take our birds. It was a race between you and the dog as soon as the birds went down. They were the worst, dog would be running up and down the bank waiting for shots as soon as anyone started calling.
