Air rifle suggestions for 7 year old
I'm looking for a decent YOUTH air rifle with a traditional style scope. Any recommendations from personal experience?

Look at the Gamo recon whisper series. It comes in a youth model and is a bad ass little air rifle. Comes with a 4x20 scope

Re: Air rifle suggestions for 7 year old
The reviews were saying that the scope mounting groove on the receiver has no back stop causing the scope to basically slide off the rail. Do you have one and is this a rare occurrence? Thx

Re: Air rifle suggestions for 7 year old
I have the older style full size recon which I believe is the same exact as the youth model. I haven't ever had my scope slide off.. I could maybe see where if you didn't have the mounts very tight and beat the hell out of the gun it could possibly slide backwards. But mine hasn't done that, it's only an air rifle so it's not subject to extreme vibration and impact when you pull the trigger. But I have everything torqued down with loctite on it.

A dab of jb weld on one side would solve that if you're really worried about it.

Every kid should start off with a red rider. Make him cut grass til he can buy that fancy fun himself.

I have the old Gamo hunter 220 that I saved up for by cutting grass when I was 10 lol! Still have it and plan on giving it to my little boy when he gets older. Badass Lil air rifle! Put hundreds of squirrels in the pot with it.

I hear ya. By the time I was 8 I had saved enough money to buy a Co2 powered crossman that held a 12 pellet round drum style clip. There wasn't a sparrow or cat in the neighborhood that didn't know me. That gun is still in mint condition.

Air rifle suggestions for 7 year old
He has had a Red Ryder since he was 4. He's good and shoots a 6.8. And .22's. I wanted to move up to something for the backyard that he can shoot often. Right handed, left eye dominate is what I'm dealing with. The trigger pull on a red Ryder develops bad habits. I think I'll make a move on that whisper recon, Too Tall. I've been eyeing up the gamos but I don't know anybody with one. I'll make the scope work if it's an issue.

Try and find hima 2100 classic crossmen or a 2200 crossmen I had both of them as a kid and they were great airguns. I liked the 2200 crossmen it looks like the A5 and only shoots 22cal. pellets and the 2100 classic shoots bb's and pellets in 177cal.

Started on the Red Ryder here too, then onto a .22 Benjamin. I will say those Gamo's are pretty badass units. I've got one of the bigger ones and I do believe I could go deer hunting on the local golf course with it with a well placed shot busted plenty of coons, possums and rabbits right here at the house with it. Keith Warren has a video out of him hog hunting with one.

Re: Air rifle suggestions for 7 year old
My buddy had a .22 Benjamin air rifle. Man was it a sweet shooting powerful air gun. We would "hunt" everyday after school out of his patio door. Birds squirrels rabbits crows it took down pretty much every type of small critter living in the neighborhood. His mom always wondered why hardly anything came to the bird feeder. Ahhhhh the good old days.
