My Buck dropped his horns a few weeks ago and I can’t find them. Do you guys know if they typically rub them off around where they sleep because it seems I’m looking for a needle in a hay stack...

If they are like whitetails then they really dont try and knock them off, they just fall off. They would not likely be in their bed. In the future you could make a feed trough to put out this time of year with a piece of goat fence above it to try and knock off the rack at that specific spot. Never tried it but its supposed to work good.

Huh .... Never heard that concept !!! Sounds like it would be worth the try.

No there is no certain area that they will drop like said above they do not intentionally knock them off. You could find each side in completely different locations.

How big do you think his horns are? I killed a gold medal last year with 37 1/2 inch horns and it had a drop tine.

I found one of his antlers on Sunday, the main beam measured 31”on a two year old, and his scratcher was 8”. We have a 20 acre pen with 8 Fallow and 4 Axis…The Fallow seem to be doing well but the Axis Does keep dying, kind of weird…

There is a few ways you can do this

•Find a small tree to the side of a deer trail that is used often.
•Drive two posts about 3-4 feet away from the tree.
•Wrap wire fencing (like was said goat fence or something like that) around the tree and connect an end at each post.
•Place acorns, soybeans, salt, corn, or any other food source at the base
of the tree.
•To keep bucks from getting entangled with the wire, make sure the openings in the wire are at least 30 inches across and the fencing is a little loose.



I have also heard of people stacking 3 tires up and putting food in the middle.

Well Axis arent like whitetails where they stay in the same general area their whole lives....they are used to free ranging so putting them in a 20 acre pen may be stressing the does out. I am no expert just a thought.
