Post Getting the most out of 2000 watt genie
I am trying to get a bowfishing rig set up. I have a honda 2000 watt gen, and a prodrive boat. I wanted to get opinions from experinced fisherman on the best light output possible. I am trying to stay fairly cheap on light prices. Also trying to figure out the best mounting positions. I do not have a deck. I have a trolling motor mounted on original mount plate. Thanks for the advice.

I have no experience with bow fishing. I don't know how the different types of lights are effected by the water, and if fish respond differently.

I am an EE though. If using LED is a viable option for bow fishing, it is the way to do. You can have more light output - much more efficiently. LED should also be more durable, as you won't have to worry about shattering lamps and about as many connections corroding.

If LED works for bow fishing, definitely check out Amazon.
https://www.e-conolight.com is a good source for lights. I've bought lots of product from those guys.

Thanks for the input. Does anyone use a single 2000 watt to bowfish with?

I had these lights on my bowfishing rig.
Had 8 of them, 250 watts each, and I ran a Honda 3000 generator, and it was on eco mode. shot lots of fish with them, and they did well.

You can also buy the 150 watt bulbs to go in those lights, then you'd only be using 1200 watts with 8 lights.

I run 6 150 watt hps and 2 led lights on a 2000 watt genny. The led lights work good in clear water, but I still say they can't hold their own to the hps in dirty water. I put Amber tint over the LEDs to help get to a warmer white.

My BIL and I build my rail system out of 1 1/2" square tubing. It's is completely removable by just taking out two pins. I cannot use my trolling motor when the rail is on though.

Cowboy thought- a thong on a woman is like a barbed wire fence. It protects the property but doesnt obstruct the view.
