1lb cylinder refill
So I noticed at my local wma that people are just tossing the Coleman 1lb tanks. I use them for my boat grill and Mr buddy heater during the season. Here is a adapter for a 1lb cylinder to be filled by got 20lb tank. It's about 8 bucks on Amazon.

Re: 1lb cylinder refill
Be careful with that. People have been killed by refilling those. Plus it’s a federal crime to transport them by road. Up to 5 years in prison.

If the game warden catches you with those be prepared to be searched for meth.

Re: 1lb cylinder refill
Game wardens don't care. It IS illegal to refill them if they're classified as disposable, though. The law is based on safety. Just because you can buy the filler, doesn't mean it's ok for all tanks. Transporting them isn't an issue though, because it's not something that can be tracked.

Re: 1lb cylinder refill
How can you look at one and tell that it has been refilled? Also how do you know how much you put in it when you refill it?

Re: 1lb cylinder refill
I don't disagree, but that's the rub. They're disposable because of how they're manufactured. They aren't designed for refill, because of cost and convenience. If the rotting in a landfill bothers you, then what do you do with all your batteries? Recycle them like you're supposed to? Or use the environmentally conscious ones (that don't last as long and cost more but don't poison the ground or water)? Or at least rechargeables? If your argument was cost savings, at least it'd be genuine. Drive a truck? What kind of gas mileage? Why not smaller tires, or low rolling resistance? Or even an suv? I get what you're saying and don't disagree, but as consumers, we steer what gets made and how, and that adds up to waste. Call the spade for what it is. There are refillable 1lb cylinders. Get a few of those and save your money that way, or accept one day it'll cost you a ticket or an accident. Got no issue with the cost savings, but understand it's illegal because it's not actually very safe, even though you've never had any issues. Other people have, usually due to stupidity, but it is what it is.

Re: 1lb cylinder refill
I hear ya, and agree. I didnt necessarily push towards cost, but it played a small factor. It was mainly convenience factor, forget till time to leave etc. I do recycle my batteries as well. I do agree it's is not what it's designed for, but after two refills, they'll be scrapped whether good shape or not.
