Yesterday I tested the new rules adopted by the St Martin Parish School Board with respect to the permanent duck blinds. We arrived at the most historic of them all at 2:45 am. Decoys were there beautifully positioned for the wind. Not much to do but drink coffee and eat breakfast for 3 hours until shooting time at 6:30 am. At 5:30 am a boat comes in shinning his lights right at us. As they approach, the driver cuts the engine. I say good morning. The driver responds: "That's my blind and my decoys" . Y'all gonna hunt my blind?" I reply, "yes". He said, "I'm gonna pick up my decoys". I told him not to because that was hunter harassment, (merely approaching the blind was, too) or I'd call the game warden who was in the next blind. I was bluffing. He said he didn't give a shit and began picking up his decoys, maybe 3 dozen. He moved on and set up in another blind and we simply set out our own decoys. We were ready in plenty of time for shooting time.

So, the new rules worked and everyone is on notice.

Taking a dump and just now realized my socks don't match. Whoops.

Dean, I get that the law states if you're picking up your decoys at your blind cuz someone else is hunting it, that's hunter harrassment. But just based on principle. If you're in another man's blind. What is logically or morally wrong with him picking up his decoys and moving along. I feel like that's a best case scenario. After all, you poke the wrong coon ass and he will shoot at you. The folks down there are exponentially crazier in the south than most places. Nobody follows th e law to a T, I know on a 55mph road I do 60...

I was actually surprised at how no confrontational the conversation was. In hindsight I should not have pressed as hard as I did about picking up his decoys, but it sent s strong message.

You should have at least asked him to hunt with you if you were going to hunt his blind and HIS decoys. No offense dean but I would have picked up my decoys regardless of what you had said or threatened me with. Not that I ever leave them out but it would have been the white thing to do.

I would have waited until shooting time to pick up my decoys. Especially if I would have known it was you.
Intentionally going out there "to test" the new rule is a complete asshole thing to do. You are nothing but a shit starter and bully everything you post on here is you having a confrontation with someone. That must be a miserable life.

Dean I don't care about a lot of the things you say or do or your political belief's. Now that being said I believe you are correct in this situation rules are there to protect the rights for all not just a select few if you won't a permanent blind get into a lease if not deal with the rules and hassle of hunting public land.
