 Re: catahoula lake blinds
public means that public my tax money if some one is in my blind they can hunt it , but my point is that if some one does not agree with blinds on a public lake then why would you be using them ?

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
I haven't hunted anywhere that allows permanent blinds since I've lived in TX. I spend a lot of time at Caddo during the off season, but I think it's been over 10 years since I've hunted there. I do have some friends that live there and may hunt there some this year, but prefer not to because I don't like dealing with these idiots who think they own the lakes.
Public means MY tax money pays for it also, not just yours. I should have just as much right to it as you. I don't see why you should be given any special privileges to hunt a certain area and show up whenever you want. If I get there first, I should have just as much right to hunt the area as you and there should be no obligation for me to let you hunt with me. I got there first, you go somewhere else... You chose to put your blind in a permanent spot. I chose to bring mine with me. That way if someone beats me to my spot (which rarely happens), I can go somewhere else without it being a big deal.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
I really wish all blinds on public waters would be removed and I would happlily take mine out. However till that happens I will keep mine up every year. If I didn't someone else would have a blind in that hole by the next weekend. So its an all or nothing thing for me.

I'm just kidding Ronnie. I do my best to stay away from places that give me the urge to do stuff like that. That's my way of trying to be the "better man".

Most the leases around here aren't worth a shit anyway.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
I have had a blind burnt down. I am still patiently waiting for the mother scrapper to show his face. When he does I believe I am going to take my right foot and donkey kick him on his left nut, twice in a row.

 Re: catahoula lake blinds
Up here on state ground, there is a lottery the last weekend of July. Each location has a set number of blinds in set locations. If you win the lottery, you get to choose two people to go on the blind with you. You build the blind to state standards. Every day of season there is a lottery at the checkstation where people can draw for blinds that don't get claimed by one of the three blind builders. To claim your blind, you must be there one hour before shooting time. Its about the most fair way I have heard of to use perminate blinds.
At the power plant hot tubs, there are markers you hunt with a boat blind that go in a lottery every morning. I like it because everyone has the same chance to hunt the best locations.
I put up with early mornings and lotterys on state ground for 10 years before I found a private blind to lease. Now I live the good life with 500 decoys out and I show up 5 minutes before shooting time!!
