I took a trip down to Dularge today to chase down a limit of redfish and it paid off. I got a late start as the tides were expected to be higher than normal from the recent storm and it paid off. I started at 10:00 and by 11:00 I was done with my limit. That was the sweet part.

The bitter part was just going down to Dularge and seeing what the oil spill has done to the area. There is just a total lack of activity down there. All the oyster hulls and shrimp boats are parked. The loading docks for shrimp and oysters are dormant. For the 4th of July weekend normally there would be tons of people on the water and at their camps. About 1/3 of the camp people are out right now. On a Saturday at the marina there would normally be 150-200 vehicles in the lot, today there were maybe 50. I rarely saw a boat while I was fishing.

Here is me with one of the reds. All of the them were in the 17-18 inch range, perfect for the grill.

It might just be me but i thought reds have to be in the 20-28" range, or is that just here in Texas?
