Anybody on here hunt Indian bayou North of Lake Henderson? Finally got a boat rigged duck hunting and am tired of wading in Sherburne for 3 Woodies. I hear about people hunting the North Flat but I was looking at a map and was wondering about up in the timber north of the flat. How is the best way of getting back up in that area? Lauch by the rest area or use one of the launches up near Bayou Amy? Not asking for honey holes just some general ideas on how to tackle scouting the area. I do know about the extra tax I mean permit to hunt Indian Bayou. |

only way to get in there with a mudmotor boat is at the launch. im in Lucky 13 Huntin Club next to it (actualy indian bayou reserve is half of our old land) and even thou we back up to it theres no way for me to get to any by boat. your best bet is to throw a pirogue on a 4 whlr and go back off the corner of the blue line and Haays.. i used to hunt by the old G Line (thats the road that the big handicap entrance is at) if u take shell road and travel back to the dixie pipeline your at the corner of the Haays. that bayou runs to Red n Blue line into Bayou Fordoche and Pornage. |

I used to hunt some holes in there with Slambin alot in our High school days. Its tought hunting in there. Sometimes it is productive and other times its not. Dont make a clear trail to your hole and take a different route everytime cuz every mofo want your spot. |

I take it there are some lazy hunters out in Indian Bayou? Is it as bad as down on Wax Lake? On Indian Bayou what is the best approach get out there early before all the Fair Weathers show up? Is the launch down by the rest area on I-10 the best place to launch? I used to read the sportsman website all the time and hunted the Wax a lot when I moved down here. I quit ready the sportsman because I got tired of all the griping about MM idiots down there. After hunting down there for 3 years I realized the idiots in MM were the same idiots who had been using outboards before. Same folks different boats. For the record I'm not calling MM users idiots. Just a select few. ![]() |

I do a lot of hunting in there when the water is down. If the water's up there is ample places for the ducks to go, but if the water is down it's easy to go in there and tear up the greenheads , you just have to scout and work for them. |
