Post subject:  Setting Brush piles?

I've got a couple spots that hold a bunch of bass and I would like to sink some trees/brushpiles. They are sloughs that drain marsh. My question is when I set the structure, would it be better to have it set parallel with the current or perpendicular? I'm assuming the fish will hold to the back side better if it perpendicular to the current, but not sure. Any ideas?

What are you using, how will you anchor it?

If you use the wrong kind of trees they won't last lost long , we do that here in florida , we you orange trees when they clear some old groves we load a trailor up and head to the lake , if you have current you some kind of anchor and the current will make a washout and the tree will bury in good hopefuly. Hope this helps.

Best time to het trees is before the leave start growing. Can take alot of weight to sink them with leaves.

We cut bamboo and stick it in a 5 gallon bucket of sack-crete.

Tie a jug to the top to keep it upright and drop it in.

Im guessing you have a creek that's producing you current. Try to find a nice bend in the creek. Those will be your best sposts. Also, it shouldn't make too much difference which direction they are facing. Just don't put them in the heart of the creek. You want them on the slope if at all possible, on that ambush point.
