I just bought me some new bands for my gun. i have a JBL 38 Special and i am about to order a Woodie mag. Wanting to know what everyone else was shooting. and any of yall free dive fresh water

Wow i like this site even more. Spearfishing is probably my favorite hobby. Most of my diving is deep on scuba and we mostly use jbl 450 magnums. They're cheap and nearly impossible to destroy. Riffe makes a really nice gun. If you get a jbl woody make sure it has the newest style handle/trigger. The old handles will flex with normal bands and will bend when you try to load them if you use shorter heavier bands.

Y'all are all freedivers? Anyone dive locally for catfish in the lakes? I Wanna try it but I don't know anyone who does it.

I free dive but also scuba if the current isn't bad... I use the JBL Gulf Magnu 450 XHD bad a$$ gun and great power.

only free diving here. a lot of inshore stuff. i shoot a pneumatic gun inshore but i have a little POS jbl my buddy cut down for a lil band gun to mess around with inshore. offshore most of us all shoot riffes.

the riffe guns are really nice blue water guns. it just doesnt fit my style of fishing. i hope i can make a trip with you this year Coe so i can go shoot some of them big Snappers.

I have 2 JBL mags. We snorkel the rigs. Shoot mangrove snapper and trigger fish.

Has anyone ever dove L. Verrret? I dive L. Pontchatrain and Maurpas for catfish and curious if anyone dives over that way? I'd be willing to trade a trip with someone.

Depends on a few factors but mostly the wind. Somtimes you cant see more than a few inches (which I dont care to dive ) other times 10' is not uncommon.

ive never heard of anyone spearing in freshwater until i moved here from FL and heard about people shooting thew big cats on toledo by the dam. i miss goin spearin. ive done a lotta snorkelin off the beach reefs and some offshore bouys with a hawaiin sling, never used a gun. i would go offshore with ya J but i know i cant pay for gas to go that far out. we used to b able to take a 16 ft double v offshore. we only gotta go 1/2 mile for clear water, unlike here ya gotta go a lot further.

so how much are we talking for a FREE DIVING snapper trip? Coe shoot me a PM and let me know

out of all the fish i shoot. mangrove snappers are 1st priority.
