Redfish point area of vermillion bay had plenty shrimp, 60-70's on average. Some of the big boats in MC are bringing in huge shrimp rite now. Had to cut em in 3 pieces for bait Saturday. |

We could have sunk the boat with 60-70's. But, what do you do with that?? Use or bait?? Any shimp you got on Saturday was from offshore. Season opened Monday. |

Your right J what would you do with 60-70's besides bait or gumbo. Oh that's true you can give them away to the shrimp docks, or better yet they may want you to pay them to take em off your hands!! They might give you .50 cents/lb for that right now. It's a damn shame how they set the opening of these seasons! A bioligist goes out with a 8' try net with 1/4" mesh to see what size and how many there is. Shit you have trouble catching them big shrimp with 2 25' trawls or even better some big ass skimmer frames much less a f#@in try net!!! And to top it off they have set dates that doesn't allow the season to open before are after a certain date......And as we all know mother nature doesn't care about dates......so half the time the shrimp are big enough and the tides are right so they leave and go offshore before the season opens and the other half is years like this no big shrimp to sell to the public!! It's ashame when your lively hood is in the hands of people that have never even been on a shrimpboat or much less made a living off the land! Sorry just had to vent a little T-al |

My old man got some today from someone he knows and they were decent. Last night I went bowfishing and didn't see a single boat out there. There were shrimp every place last night but all about 60-70's. I picked up a bunch this morning that jumped in the boat last night. |
