Anyone ever heard of making duck decoys from milk jugs?

I'v seen everything from 2 liter bottles to freon tanks used as duck and goose floats. Never seen any painted like decoys. We paint them flat black and float um in our spread with store bought decoys.

I have heard of folks painting coke bottles black and placing them to the side of their spread like a flock of coots. Never have done it myself.

There are a lot of people on big lakes that do it.

I have seen spreads of 1000+ jugs and bottles painted black and ducks don't mind them too bad.

2 liter bottles on catahoula lake is the main decoys used, some have 1000-2000 of them around there blind with real decoys on the outside edges and along any openings. we hunt out there and believe it or not the more of them that a blind has then the more the ducks flock into them.

alot of people stake them permanently to the ground then when the water goes up they just stay attached to the bottom and then the next year they repaint them.

makes you think twice on the 120.00 a dozen dakota decoys

we made our own coot decoys with foam from a taxedermy place and a fiberglass mold we made. rather pain free process.
