Anybody else here fish/hunt alligators? Ill be hanging lines tomorrow then catching gators Wednesday morning.

Gonna set some lines Friday afternoon, and run em this weekend.

Ive done it every year I can remember with my dad and grandpaw. Last 2 yrs we didnt do it. Continental land gave us a choice last year but the price wasnt there. Year before that they didnt let us. Im excited this year. I actually miss it.

I wish I could find some tags

Buddies have been catching some monsters here in FL. The last one was 11'6...and not a skinny 11'6 either...

Biggest we ever caught was 13'3" when I was a kid. Talk about huge.

We do it a little different over here.... We use a fishing pole to catch em and then once you finally get him to the boat...bang stick to the top of the head... Never done it myself but it is on the short list.

Im gonna be in West Tx for all of Gator Season -- Oh well -- Prolly miss Teal Season too

235 tags this year. But at least the price for hides is better this year.

Damn. We have 5000 acres and got 55 tags. Usually got 65 for the last few years. Only 55 this year.

I put in for the lottery hunt and ended up getting drawn. 3 tags. and my season starts 1 week after commercial season opens.

I got 4 tags for Ms this yr...... Two for the Pearl River and 2 for the Pascagula river......

4 tags would be nice to play with,but for everybody that thinks they wanna fish gators yall would prolly have a rude awakening.it turns into work pretty quick when you got plenty tags to fill.the bait forkin stinks.its forkin hot.and when it cools off,they dont wanna bite.yes it is fun when you boat the bigguns but it aint really like they make it out to be on swamp people.most the time you just pull easy on the line not to piss him off and when the head comes up choot em...game over.sometimes the gator will upchuk a half digested nutria or something after its in the boat...not too pretty.after fishing in sept,i dont usually eat gator meat or chicken till atleast nov.
getting screwed on the price sucks the most.

Very productive land to get 65 on 2000 acres. The guy that hunts our area averages 28 tags on 1800 acres.
Fisheries looks at a crystal ball or something to decide how many gators can be harvested per acreage.

Caught 17 this morning. Biggest was just over 10'.

Had 10 today. Biggest was 10'4". Had a couple over 9'. Bundy came with me. I think it was his first time seeing something like that. 28 to go.
