Just bought a new one unconverted. And yes, I drank the Kool-aid. Anyone else have one? I plan on converting it down the road just not sure if I want to tackle it or send it off. |

save your money and convert it yourself, I did mine and it is easy. Tromix now has a DIY trigger guard that makes it even easier than when I did mine. Cliff notes are, remove stock,drill out the flared ends on the 2 pins for the trigger group, punch em out, drill out the spot welds for the trigger guard (get a good drill bit, not a cheap-o), touch up the paint that will be missing under the old trigger guard,install the DIY trigger guard & pistol grip, install new trigger assy, and install stock of your choice. I used a Tapco G2 single hook trigger, and a Tapco T6 (AR 6 position style) stock, and reused my original trigger guard, which was the hardest part to get right. The Tromix DIY guard skips having to modify the original, and mill/cut the rear portion of the reciever to put a pistol grip adapter block, as it is all one piece. I would recommend getting a trigger pin retaining plate/sheperds crook, as the original trigger retaining spring is a beyotch to get back in correctly. I also had to grind one side of the G2 trigger to allow it to work with the factory bolt hold open, but I think you can get one already done specifically for this from Tromix. There will be 4 holes left in the receiver from where you removed the original 2 pins, but I got some little plastic plugs from Lowe's that pop right in, and look like the other rivet heads on the gun. Also, I got lucky, mine will cycle very light target loads, but if yours doesn't you have a couple options. You can have the gas ports drilled/reamed out, or get an adjustable gas plug. I have one around here somewhere if you end up needing one, send me a message, and I'll see if I can find it. |

IMAG0100.jpgWHERE DO I GET AN ADJUSTABLE GAS PLUG?mine wont cycle target loads. with the 24 inch bbl.and the 2 inch poly choke,it breaks skeet pretty good. |

Thanks for the info Richard. Do you still have to cut off the rear tang at the rear of the receiver that holds the factory stock? What did you paint the spot under the trigger guard with? Mine wouldn't cycle low recoil buck n slugs on the #1 setting. I had to use #2. If you drill the gas ports does it cycle everything on one setting or just low brass on #2? Do you know anybody locally that can add the h&k sights and the galil bolt handle besides RJF? |

I think you Only have to cut/weld if you want to put the end plate for the side folding stocks. $.97 flat black Walmart spray paint Its not supposed to cycle "everything" on one setting. The gas system isnt self regulating like an autoloading hunting shotgun, and if you have it cycling very light target loads on a setting, and start shooting 3" buckshot on the same, it will Beat the inside of the receiver and bolt up pretty bad. mine has the polished bolt, Mapgul AR stock and grip, drilled and tapped for a magwell, firebird mid barrel break and poly choke. Picked upa tri-rail from CSS incase i need to add a flash light for zombies. |
