Well, for what it's worth between me, my dad, my brother and one of my best friends, we have AR's in .223, 5.56, 7.62x39, 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC. They're all fun, but out of all of them, I'd skip the 7.62x39 (although it is super cheap to shoot). Memorial Day 2010, I spent at the range with my friend (former TEAM guy) who has a 16" LMT 6.8 and I THINK might still have a 16" LWRC 6.8 (was planning on selling it). I took my 24" Lilja barrelled .223 and 24" Les Baer barrelled 6.5 Grendel and we had a lot of fun shooting steel plates from 200M to 500M. This was all done from a shooting bench with good rests and 5-20mph winds. With the Vortex Crossfire 6x24 scope I had on the 24" Grendel, we could do head shots on the ram plate at 500m about 95% of the time. With the 16" 6.8 and a Nikon 3x9 BDC scope we were 75-80% hits on the whole ram plate. Either one would be good for deer/hogs/taliban. All of his buddies who are "on assignment" are using 6.8's, for what it's worth. What kind of info are you looking for? |

btw.... my buddy DOES have the patch on his Voodoo gun case that reads "pork eating crusader" I should add that we ran out of time that day to do a 16" to 16" shootoff.... my 16" grendel has a Nikon monarch 3x9 on it and therefore would have been a better "test". BUT he has thousands of hours more range time then me, so I didn't mind "cheating". Besides it was he, who taught me the phrase.... if you think that you're in a fair fight, your tactics SUCK." I went with the 6.5's cuz 6.5's are cool! And I want to shoot 1000 yards with an AR. It's flatter past 400-500 yards than the 6.8. But he can get ONE more round in his mag than me. ![]() |

I've been shooting deer and hogs with a 6.8 Bison Armory. I love it. I've been shooting 110 SSA Pro hunters and it does a great job. 16" Gun-Kote Barrel, V-Tac Extreme 11" rail, Magpul CTR stock, Tactical Machining Upper/Lower, Nikon VX-R scope Try the 6.8 forums if you haven't. a Ton of information on there. |

If you're buying one to take lives, get a 6.8. If you're buying one to be cool and shoot targets, get a 556. |

I built a 6.8 earlier this year and I love it. It definitely has more thump than a .223 and using the 110 grain Pro Hunters that carey mentioned, it'll do a number on hogs. Overall I'm very happy with the rifle and it's been super reliable. One more thing, make sure that any barrel you use is a Spec II with a 1:11 twist so you can get the most velocity out of your ammo. I'd also second what danimal said and stay away from the 7.62x39. Anyone interested in shooting that caliber should just buy and AK or SKS instead of setting up an AR for it. Here's the "Infidel" dust cover you want: http://jsgunparts.com/store/index.php?m ... cts_id=989 |

Yes, the SSA sierra 110 pro hunters are my buddy's favorite load. If you reload, beware that SSA made some brass for large primers too. Hopefully that is all gone now. |

I had bad luck with SSA loads swelling up my magazines and giving me feeding problems. Switched to Hornady, no more issues. I did like those 110 Sierras though, worked great on hogs |

Tried plastic and steel, several different brands. It was definitely the ammo. |

Wow....good color. Buddy only uses pri waffles (stainless steel) and Barrett . Won't touch C-products. Last time he had checked, polymers weren't available. But since he stocked up on pri's hasn't needed to look much. |
