 Mandeville Fishing
So my wife's tennis team made the State finals in Mandeville on May 18th. Thinking about pulling the GT as I don't think I can stand 4 days of watching tennis.
Any advice on fishing in the area, say Redfish or specks?? Don't want to run any big water if the weather kicks up.

 Re: Mandeville Fishing
Reds and specks will be in Lake Pontchartain.. YOu can run the lake when its calm, But the way the wind has been blowing, You never know the swell size out there.

 Re: Mandeville Fishing
Kinda figured that the Lake would be the spot. Just checking to see if there are any other protected areas to fish in.

 Re: Mandeville Fishing
Isnt Big branch paddle only? Last time I hunted there, I had to paddle over a mile through 2" water and nasty mud. Fork that... THats why I got a MM lol.

 Re: Mandeville Fishing
Tchfunctee river is an option if you want to do some freshwater fishing. If looking strictly for reds and specks I'd probably go to bayou lacomb, or the rigolets. The causeway and trestle can be fished just dont real far out and you should be ok.

 Re: Mandeville Fishing
Tchfuncta has a lot of boat traffic but you could fish the rice canal for freshwater. Not many options if the lake is choppy. Causeway if it's calm for trout but catching them is an artform on deadly dudleys. Bayou lacombe for freshwater or the mouth for reds. I believe there is a artificial reef nearby still need a calm day. Rigoletes for marsh fishing or the bridges. Give us a report when you are done. Good luck
