Stupid, Adrift and Thanking God for a Coleman Cooler

I couldn't find it using search. Read this blog entry the other day. It's by an editor(I think) of Great Lakes Angler magazine who capsized/sunk a boat 5 miles from shore on Lake Michigan in about 100 FOW. Luckily, everyone on the boat made it out OK. I realize not many guys on here are hitting the Great Lakes, but I would have to think that this kind of thing can happen on the ocean too. This guy obviously has a lot of big water experience. This is an excellent reminder that, experience aside, mistakes and unavoidable circumstances can cause bad things to happen. Be careful out there!

I have fished Lake Superior in a 16' lund. Its a spooky feeling to be a few miles out even on a dead calm day. It makes you realise just how small you really are. We got caught a few miles out one day when the wind came up. We only made it back because we tucked in behind a charter boat heading back to the harbor. Not a good feeling.
