I just picked up a case of winchester expert high velocity 3 inch #3s 1&a1/4oz. I know every one has a brand of shells that they prefer and that topic has been discussed over and over again, but what number and ounces of shot do you guys like the best

I actually just bought two case of exactly what you have from Mackspw for $100 a case. I used to shoot the dryloc and supremes but I personally don't notice the difference...

3" 1 3/8 oz #3's for most situations.

BB's for windy days or having to shoot big ducks a little farther than I would prefer.

So yall think the 1 1/4oz is better than the 1 3/8oz?

More shot better? or faster shot better????

I found,,,and it may just be me, that the 1 3/8 shot better....anyone say any different?

3" rounds with 1 3/8 oz of shot for me. Both in BB for geese and #4 for ducks. They seem to behave much better on paper out of my gun.

Can't beat the Fiocci Heavy Steel for $149 free shipping. 3.5" 1-9/16oz @ 1470 fps.
Cut one of them shitsperts open and compare the pellets to any decent shell.
We have run better than 10 cases of them Fioccis with no problems. My SBE2 loves em.

#7 winchester for teal. #4 kent fasteel for ducks. full choke kills em dead no matter what you use though. If you can shoot a small pattern, do it.

Post subject:  Re: Shells

I need to make an order too. What brands are you guys looking at that you can get a 1 3/8 load in a 3" shell? Everything I've seen is 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 unless you step to a 3 1/2.

3" 1-1/4oz #2 for everything except early teal when I use the same in #4s. Find a choke/load that patterns in your gun and forget everything else.

Post subject:  Re: Shells

Im wondering the same thing... I almost want to just shoot #4's this season with a full choke at big ducks... Will this work as well as say, #2's in a mod? Any advantages to shooting smaller shot, with a tighter choke? I never thought about it until I saw Robn bustin them up in the videos with #7s.

Can anyone help me out?

Also... What 3" shell can I get in 1 3/8?

1 1/4 are ok but 1 3/8 kills them dead!! No comparison not even close!!

Winchester makes a Dryloc 3" with 1-3/8 oz. shot. We've been shooting them for years. The mags all like to post the 1-1/4 loads because they are faster, which is apparently cool to some people.

Post subject:  Re: Shells

I like the Kent fasteel 3" #4 1 1/8 oz 1560 fps. They pattern well in my gun (Browning Silver) and the higher velocity seems to cripple less. I also challenge you to cut open an xpert shell and compare the shot to any other shell. The pellets are not round, almost look like welding slag, and they dont do well if you submerge them in water. I sometimes wade for a few hours in waist deep water with my shells under and havent had a problem with the Kents. Just my .02

Last year I shot the 1 3/8 most of the season when I ran out I went to the 1 1/4 just wasn't a comparison. As for as the high dollar shells out today the only ones I would shoot are blind side!! They are 1 3/8 oz I guaranty they are some bad ass shells just to expensive for me lol

I can never get myself to buy those high dollar shells. IMO they just lighten your wallet. I usually pick up whatever is cheap. A tight pattern is 10 x more effective than a golden 20 dollar bb.
