 Hiding from Tealbirds
Normally we hunt sitting in cover like brush or lillies, but this year the water line is 100yds from any cover. I worry a little too much about things, considering I've shot my limit of teal picking up the first one I shot out in the decoys...
But If we just bring PLENTY of brush like willow limbs and a buralp background do yall think the teal will flare off a new pile of brush out in the wide open?

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Layout blinds would be the best answer, none of my friends want to buy one though...

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Wood if the waters not that deep , we,ve did some getto hunting but works very good , take a foldout lawnchair lay it down flat just off the waters surface cover it with burlapp and some light brush works very well , use it like a layout boat , tell your buddys if they want to kills some teal this is deadly. and very cheap to do and it set up in just a few minutes.

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
It was like that for us last year when Texas had such a bad drought.. If theres absolutely no cover anywhere around, then make your own surroundings to places you plan on hunting quite a bit, with a blind in the middle.. if not.. Well we went as far as digging pits and laying in them with brush thrown over and a half lawnchair (cut the back out) and a back rest.. Make due with what youve got.. Its teal season.. In a decent spot you should have your limit before they can really see you anyways..

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Woodie, just carry some brush out there and make a bush to hide in. They're teal, no layout blinds needed.

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
It's impossible to grab ducks from underneath with scuba gear. It's like they have a 6th or maybe even a 7th sense for that.

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Woodie, can't speak for your friends but as skinny as you are you could just wear brown clothes and stand up straight. They will certainly mistake you as a small dead tree. I could hunt w/ you and do the same and they would think I was a big stump or beaver hut.

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Sit in the brush way back from the water and smack 'em with a .22-250 when they land. Might not have much bird left but it'll sharpen your rifle skills

 Re: Hiding from Tealbirds
Migrator, I don't know if we can hunt together. If there's a beaver hut around, I'm usually hunkered down up against it. Might get kinda weird.

Teal are good eating but dumb. Just act like your taking or piss or making a samich and they will fly by. The key is to act like your not looking for them.
