Post Anybody mod a marsh stool for a backrest??
Going through some of my hunting stuff to see if there if anything needs replacing, and remembered how much my marsh stool hurts my back so bad after an hour or so. I lean over a welding table bout 3 days a week so my back aint in the best shape to begin with. I been toying around with the idea of buying a second stool and figuring out a way to connect the two to use one as a backrest. Anyone ever done this? I saw one stool on the www that had a backrest on it, but it still only had one leg in the middle, I dont see how any weight could be put on the back without it just tipping backwards.

thanks,
rod

The seat Ive got has two arms that unfold to help hold the seat up in the muck, you might be able to fashion another set that sits on the other axis to keep the seat from tipping backwards. Usually we are setup in a place where I can lean back against something sturdy enough to qualify as a backrest (tree, blind, brush pile). Id like to see what you come up with though!

My brother made one out of 3/4" aluminum conduit. The seat pedestal post from a boat seat fits inside it. Regular old boat seat he uses to run his boat also doubles as his marsh stool seat. The post needs to be pretty long tho so it'll go deep enough not to tip over. Put a cross brace on it to stop it from sinking in mud.
