I stay in touch with my people in south Dakota. Theirs nothing right now. They are waiting on the migration as we speak. Bad thing is it might just pass over that region. If it get cold and freezes what little water they have they keep on going. I pray it freezes it's ass off lol |

I've been gone for 10 years strait I've caught it only a few times were it was REALY good. Last year we shot maybe 20 ducks. I left 3 days early to come home to kill them. Don't get me wrong if your going just to duck hunt you can find them and kill limits we just choose to hunt deer as our main objective. |

Dude it's a hit and miss type thing. Last year when I got to the farm we had 5000 mallards sitting in a pond behind the farm next day we set up pond was frozen ducks were gone never came back. I'm not telling you either way if I was you I would try to get a report from the people who you suppose to hunt with |

We are planning on heading to Lidgerwood to start out which is in the SE corner of the state, that's where my buddies dad always hunted out of over the years. We had a contact with a guy that lives up there but he is not calling us back. Our main worry is we wont have near enough decoys to hunt fields the whole time since we are driving up and hunting by our self the whole week. We are willing to put in plenty of scout time and work to find ducks but i hear to field hunt you need dozens of full body decoys and that we dont have. Thanks for the help!!! |

We had a cold front blow through Tuesday night. I have seen alot of greaters and a few ducks here and there but like they said if you can find water you will find birds. It snowed Wednesday and hasnt got out of the 30's since. I am in the watford city area |

After going to ND for many years with the last few years using my head. I found the key to finding birds was going to a airport renting a pilot/plane for a couple hours and fly around and mark birds with a gps. No further needed. Thank me later. I can say I never went to ND without slaying a pile of ducks, geese, sandhills, swans and pheasants. I will say my pards and I were never afraid to load up and drive a couple hundred miles to keep on the birds. I would talk to train engineers, truck drivers and construction workers at gas stations to keep on the cutting edge. The best tip was when a guy said give me a hundred bucks and I will take you up in my plane and show you where the birds are. Money well spent. |

Thats all I hunted. Not for sure today however the law in ND was if the property is not posted it was open to hunt without asking. I would be willing to guess its still like that. I did ask a couple of farmers to hunt just out of courtesy and some liked the asking and others said they did not want to get bothered and that is why they did not post. On posted ground I would ask and the majority granted permission. They posted just to have people ask so they would know who was out there on their property hunting. Chaseh I never ever hunted the public property except the Missouri river. |

Netman, I guess my thought process is different. With Texas having one of the largest amounts of fenced private property, you don't do shit like that. You'd never get away with it Atleast... |

I have been to Texas hunting. I knew what you were getting at. Its totally different. Its like deer hunting in Indiana. Knock and ask. You will be surprised at how good of deer hunting you can have by asking. It you think you want to go to ND let me know. I will be happy to help out. I have helped several on here with trips to ND. |
