 Re: GPS
Garmin Oregon Series! I have a 400T my wife has a 550T. It's one of the best hunting tools I own. I have the topographic, city navigator, birds eye imagery and gps hunt maps on it. I'm looking to add on the blue chart maps and a transducer somtime this week. I had lowrance hand helds in the past and the software was terrible and customer service ever worse. Garmins customer service has been great.

 Re: GPS
For I phone I got the GPS kit app. It's awesome! Very accurate. The Garmin 60 from the first reply is nice too.

 Re: GPS
What you wanting to use it for? I'm real familiar with both lowrance and garmin models. I have acquired three handhelds over the years and (2 garmin and 1 Lowrance) as well as three lowrances mounted in my bass boat. I prefer lowrance for in my boats and garmin for walking in the woods. I had purchased my first lowrance handheld prior to owning my bass boat but knew one day I would get one and use the big head units they have now days. By doing this I was easily able to save tracks on my sd card and then put that sd card into the bigger units, which allows me to retrace my paths. I like the lowrance H2O model because it allows me to do a static log on a location which enables accuarcy within a foot. This allows me to get back to nearly the same exact spot time and time again. also, I think lowrance makes better maps for the maze of waterways in south La than any other major competitor.
Now Garmin. I find Garmin to lock onto satilights faster. Also, with garmins mapsource program you can upload a saved track from your gps and then overlay it onto google eath. I find this very helpful when doing retracement of my excersions through the woods.
Both companies make good products but garmin has better custumer service without a doubt

 Re: GPS
Da go get'er talked about using map source to view your routes on Google Earth. That is why I use the Garmins Birds Eye Imagery. It allows you to down load the satellite images to the gps. I select whole counties where I hunt and download it so I have something to go by in the field. I used it this weekend. We were hunting very tall wide rice beds and we could see birds just working a spot but couldn't tell what it was. We looked at the satellite image saw there was a pot hole with a little ditch going to it from another direction and we were able to move and adjust really easily.
