Post Bolt release button question
Ok today I accidentally hit the bolt release button when a shell was already in the chamber, with two more in the tube. It disengaged the little catch that holds the shells in the tube and let them slide backwards, jamming under the bolt, above the carrier. I then had to eject the live round, then use a screwdriver to push the forward shell in until it was locked back into the tube, then the shell that was loaded into the tube second was able to get out. Is this how all of them work?? I talked to two different people today with guns other than berettas and their bolt release button does nothing if the bolt is already forward and a shell is chambered. if the bolt is open, the button strictly just releases the bolt, but if the bolt is closed, it moves the shell catch thingy out of the way and that is what causes it. I tried doing it again to see if i could have fixed the jam without a screwdriver and yes I could, but it was hard, but if I was shooting 3" instead of 2 3/4's today, I think I may have been in a bind. i can post a video of this if Im not explaining this right.

thanks,
rod

I did the same thing with mine opening day, but was not able to recreate the issue after the hunt. Now when it's slow I just don't fiddle with the buttons on the gun! Just imagine if you had 3.5's LMAO!

Loud and clear on the explanation

This is a Beretta thing kinds sucks but the idea is to unload the magazine (stored rounds) WITHOUT having to chamber each round

Also get each round COMPLETELY in the magazine tube or it can cause troubles

Rod youre saying your bolt was closed with a round in the chamber and you pushed the bolt release button which released the two rounds in the magazine tube, right?

If im not wrong, you could have fired the shell in the chamber and the shell on the rail would have fed in and you could have gone on from there, my 1100 did this to me last year dove hunting I got in a rush and the shell didnt catch and slid back onto the rail, I shot the next bird that passed and started over from scratch, my stogger would also do what your talking about if you pressed the button it would dump the shells onto the tube.

I tried this with my 3901 and when you push the bolt release it only drops one shell into the carrier then when you pull the bolt back it ejects the shell in the chamber and loads the new shell.

What I'm getting at is maybe something isn't right with yours and that's why it's dropping both shells out of the tube

I don't think it will do it with 3" shells.
